Dr. Jetze J. Tepe was born in Gouda, the Netherlands. He moved to the US in 1988 to attend Jacksonville University, Florida, where he received his BS degree in 1992. He received his PhD in 1998 from the University of Virginia under the guidance of Prof. Timothy L. Macdonald and pursued his post-doctoral study with Prof. Robert M. Williams at Colorado State University. In 2000, he started his independent career at Michigan State University and in 2024 he returned to his alma mater, the University of Virginia, as professor of chemistry and director of drug discovery at UVA’s comprehensive cancer center. He was the founder of two biotechnology companies and most recently he is serving as founder and director of Portera Therapeutics. Outside of his academic career he enjoys spending time with his family, running and sailing.
