About
Daniel was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA where he graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and minored in Neuroscience. During the Summer of 2019, he conducted research at University of Massachusetts Medical School under supervision of Dr. Gang Han synthesizing amphiphilic nanoparticles for in-situ drug delivery. For his senior year project, he worked under supervision of Dr. Mikell Paige on the synthesis of substituted pyrazolopyridine heterocycles for inhibition of superoxide dismutase.
In the Tepe Lab, Daniel is working on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of small molecule activators of the 20S proteasome to induce proteolytic destruction of intrinsically disordered proteins. Outside of lab, Daniel enjoys cooking, reading, and hanging out with his dog, Rocko.
